Helping community groups access the Community Centre
As a result of sustained lobbying by the Bundeena Progress Association (BPA) Sutherland Shire Council has reduced hire fees by 38% for all users for the 2024/45 financial year:
$21.00 per hour - Standard rate for private and commercial hirers
$13.02 per hour - Discount rate for registered charities and not-for-profit organisations
A 75% surcharge on the above rates applies to any function or event, and to bookings after 4pm on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
The BPA assists eligible community groups to run activities and events in the Bundeena Community Centre by providing free venue hire and insurance coverage.
We support not-for-profit groups which provide social, recreational, cultural and physical activities for the benefit of Bundeena and Maianbar residents.Â
This support is made possible by fee waivers and grant funding provided by Sutherland Shire Council for the 2024/45 financial year as a result of lobbying by the BPA. Under the terms of these grants, all bookings of the Community Centre on behalf of other groups must be made by the BPA, with the BPA taking legal responsibility for the activity/event. To qualify for this assistance from the BPA your group or activity must meet the following eligibility criteria:
The applicant must be:
Based in Bundeena or Maianbar
An individual or a representative of a local community group (ie. not a business, formal club or incorporated organisation)
A member of the BPA
The activity or event must:
Provide a direct service or benefit to the Bundeena community
Be open to all Bundeena residents (unless targeting a specific demographic)
Be non-profit making. Fundraising to cover the costs of the activity and/or support the work of the group in providing local community services is permissible.
Please use the form below to apply for BPA assistance. Your application will be assessed by the BPA committee, which meets on the second Monday of each month.
